Our History
The advent of COVID shut down our studios immediately, with March 17th, 2020, being our last event. For a while, we assumed things would return to normal shortly, but as weeks dragged into months, our situation began to look more and more dire. Once things passed the 6 month mark, we knew we had to make some drastic changes, and quickly.
At this point, we had lost all of our locations but the Ypsilanti studio. Due to a string of lucky situations, we were able to maintain that studio, despite a complete lack of income, for the entirety of the government enforced shut down. In 2021, we were lucky enough to win a grant for performance art spaces, which enabled us to pay off our outstanding debts and being the preparations for reopening as COVID began to (hopefully) wind down.
Using the down time, we did our best to reoutfit the Ypsilanti studio, giving it a makeover in the process. We also began preparations for re-branding from Paint and Pour to Tipsy Ypsi Paint & Pour, as we could now focus our efforts on Ypsilanti and the surrounding cities. We began running Private Paint Parties at this time, both to gauge the feasibility of a paint party operation after the pandemic, and to begin to finally start making some revenue again.
Which brings us to the Summer of 2022, when we we able to FINALLY reopen the study for public events. It has been a crazy past few years, but we are ready to make YOUR next event a special one!
So, are you ready for us to put the ART in your next pARTy? We sure are…
